It all started with a simple observation: many regions around the world had developed specialized, quality-focused platforms for connecting local talent with global employers. These regional platforms understood their talent markets deeply, created proper vetting systems, and built strong communities.
But Latin America? Despite being home to millions of skilled professionals, there wasn't a great platform that truly served this market.
After years of hiring Latin American talent through scattered freelance sites and agencies, we kept running into the same problems. Popular platforms were flooded with low-quality applications. Agencies charged astronomical fees while keeping talent in the dark about their actual earnings. And specialized platforms? They were just basic job boards with zero quality control.
We tried everything. From posting on major job sites to working with recruiting agencies, from joining Facebook groups to using specialized Latin American hiring platforms. Each method had its own set of headaches:
- Endless streams of copy-pasted applications from candidates who hadn't even read the job description
- Agencies charging 3 or 6-month placement fees while taking huge cuts from talent's salaries
- Job boards with zero verification meaning fake profiles and wasted time
- Platforms that prioritized massive talent pools over the quality of each candidate
- Indirect hiring methods that left both employers and talent vulnerable to scams
- Misrepresented skill levels and fabricated work experience that only became apparent after hiring
- Intermediaries controlling all employer-talent interactions
- Talent suddenly disappearing due to lack of verified employer referrals confirming their commitment/reliability
- Inflated hourly rates due to multiple middlemen each taking their cut
- Poor internet or tech infrastructure not being verified
That's when we realized: the problem wasn't with Latin American talent - it was with the broken system connecting them to employers.
